Coming Events:

MAY 22, 2016

The prestigious Algerine Passage sailboat race between the Comox and Powell River Yacht clubs has been an annual event since 1970.  The race between Comox and Powell River alternates its start, one year from Comox harbor and the following year from Willingdon Beach.  The course typically takes in the Grants Reef buoy en route to or from the Algerine Passage between Harwood and Texada Islands.  Light winds sometimes necessitate a shortened course.  A silver cup, donated by MacMilan Bloedel Ltd. in 1970 presently displays 40 winners crests.  This year the race will be run on May 22nd. starting in  Comox.  The race is open to Powell River Yacht club members who have a PHRF rating and whose vessels meet the qualifying safety standards.  Entrants must also carry insurance.  Boats and crews can sail to Comox harbor on Saturday, May 21st.  for a get together with the Comox club in the evening. (venue forthcoming)  The race will commence the following morning at 9:00 am.  After the race, competitors and club members are welcome to meet and dine at the TREE FROG restaurant (7:00 pm) on Marine Ave, where the trophy will be presented.  For further information please open the attached documents.
