The Spring Race Series had great fun in the breeze this past Saturday. Laurie had us doing a super fun figure 8 course which provided plenty of variables and excitement for the fleet. Blue Parrot came out to play with the regulars this week - we hope to see more boats out as the temperatures rise. The group meets for lunch at Striker's Pub after each race - keep an eye on us - lunch time is up to the wind!

See you on the water soon!

Message from the Race Director

Ahoy sailors

Don’t forget that our spring racing series kicks off this coming Saturday, April 11th.  The skippers meeting will take place promptly at 9:00 am. at the Comox ferry terminal as usual.  The weather is forecast to be South East 15 to 25 knots.  It would be great to see some new boats in the line up.  For those keen to improve their skills keep in mind that you can learn more in a single race than in a whole season of cruising.  Hope to see you there!  Call me if you have any questions.     604 483-3205

What a great day on the water this Saturday.  After the wind and rain Friday and predicted weather for Saturday the sun shone and the wind gently sent us over to Texada for lunch, the building winds provided us with an exhilarating ride back.  Derek Day managed a few snaps of the group before we got on the water in the sun and at the Texada Inn during lunch.

Six boats and 20 plus members participated with special thanks to Bill Turner for taking a group on his power boat while the rest of the club packed our rain jackets (which we didn't need) and sailed over.

Racing season is starting and we will be coordinating the cruises and races so there is no overlap so everyone can participate in the club activities.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and enjoying such a great day on the water.

Anne Leaman, PRYC Cruise Director

The Frostbite Series had loyal participation...despite quite a few windless days. The jury is still out on who took the Series..it was that close!

The Spring Series will start again in April. Stay tuned for the dates.

The 2015 Learn to Sail schedule is now posted and registration is open! Check out all the details on the Learn to Sail page.

See you on the water soon!

Oct 26th

The winds were up for Oct 18 Fall Series race last week! Sustained SE 27 knots with gusts over 35! Everyone had their jacklines & harnesses out for the fun!

Kestrel, Kindred Spirit & Sovind had a blast in the big winds and some sizable wav
es near Blubber Bay. Sovind had to withdraw after shredding their jib. It was an exhilarating day on the water and everyone was still buzzing after racing. Well done Kindred Spirit and Kestrel for completing the big triangle in big conditions! ....they have a race rule question for Terry...we think Kindred Spirit won. ;0)

Yesterday's forecast didn't materialize....Kindred Spirit, Una, Sovind, & Séance spent an hour getting across the line and the first 500 yards before the NW breeze showed up. Up to the mill, out to the mid channel mark, downwind to Penticton Street and back to Willingdon.

Una took line honors and the race....again! Great sailing by Monique & Laurie!

Congratulations to Laurie & Monique of Una on their Shearwater Passage Race win yesterday!

7.5 hours in light fluky conditions....who knew you could put up a spinnaker and sail 320 degrees around Harwood without taking it down! On corrected time Sovind took 2nd, Séance in 3rd.

See you all next week for the next race of the Fall Series!

Sept 21st

The Pender Harbour Jazz Festival Cruise & Fun Race was EPIC!

We had tons of last minute sign ups join the fun despite the foggy start on Saturday morning. Kindred Spirit, Spellbound ,Misty Blue & Sovind set off at roughly the same time into the fog. Una got stuck behind a blanket of pea soup that delayed their departure but the fog cleared mid day, the wind came up and we all had  a great sail down to the Jazz Festival. Una, Spellbound & Sovind participated in the fun race for the Salty Saxaphone. (We adjusted the course so Una could catch up and come out to play) Our little fleet ended up within minutes of each other and with Terry's calculations Sovind will be caring for the Salty Saxaphone until next year! Congrats!

Our original group expanded from 7 people to 21 including crews from: Misty Blue, Una, Spellbound, Kindred Spirit, Kaye Syrah &  Sailmates. Fun pre-dinner games, some really great music in the dining room and later the pub  had the whole crew on their feet dancing most of the night! And as an added bonus it was Gary's birthday!! It was a great evening with a super fun group of people!! I think we're ALL looking forward to next year!
